We’ve known since 2020 that Game of Thrones co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss would be shepherding 3 Body Problem, Netflix’s series adaptation of Chinese author Liu Cixin’s acclaimed sci-fi novel—and we’ve known since 2021 who was going to star in it. Now, we know when it’s arriving: March 21, 2024.

Netflix revealed the date of 3 Body Problem’s premiere today as part of its Geeked Week festivities, and also shared a brief clip. The Three Body Problem (which is how the novel’s title is styled) has already spawned a podcast and an anime, but it certainly appears the series, which looks like it boasts lavish production values, will elevate things to a whole new level:

Notable for fans who’re still haunted by the missteps in that final Game of Thrones season, 3 Body Problem comes not just from Benioff and Weiss, but also Alexander Woo (The Terror: Infamy, True Blood). The big names in the ensemble cast include Marvel stars Benedict Wong (Dr. Strange) and Tsai Chin (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the 10 Rings), as well as Game of Thrones alums Liam Cunningham and John Bradley—the latter of whom plays a big part in the clip above.

Here’s the official logline, followed by a look at the full teaser poster released today: “A young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time into the present day. When the laws of nature inexplicably unravel before their eyes, a close-knit group of brilliant scientists join forces with an unflinching detective to confront the greatest threat in humanity’s history.”
